'The Art of War' by Sun Tzu, 128 pages - Instagram @c_reads_books

The Art of War by Sun Tzu is an ancient Chinese military treatise first written during the sixth century BC. It contains 13 chapters, with each one being devoted to an aspect of warfare and the way it applies to military tactics and strategy. It is one of the oldest works on military strategy, and the most influential, having been translated into a multitude of different languages.

To be honest, I am not completely sure why I decided to pick this book up when I saw it at Barnes & Noble, but pick it up I did, and even bought it. I always enjoy reading historical documents, most often political theory. This book is a little different than that which I would normally pick up, but it was still interesting to read. What I found most intriguing about this book was how applicable the military strategy is to today. Although weapons have greatly changed over time, the basic ideas outlined in this book are still at least somewhat relevant to warfare today. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys to read (and learn about) historical documents and military strategy.
