⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
Jonathan Livingston Seagull by Richard Bach is the story of an ambitious and adventurous seagull who aims to learn about life and flying, with the hopes of finding a purpose in life beyond the mundane everyday chores of seagulls, such as finding food. Jonathan Seagull is outcasted from his flock for his ideas, but soon finds accepting seagulls and begins his study on the art of flying. Eventually, he even opens a school for other seagulls, giving them flying lessons.
I moderately enjoyed this book. It was lighthearted and entertaining to read a fable about seagulls, and I most definitely loved Russell Munson’s photography intertwined throughout the story, yet it was a fairly silly and simple story. This is not necessarily bad, it just made it difficult to take the book seriously at times. Jonathan Seagull had a multitude of interesting things to say about life and flying, yet when I remembered that it was a seagull talking, it began to seem a bit ridiculous. Overall though, this was a good quick read that I would recommend!
