⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
Blue Horses by Mary Oliver is a poetry collection that contains 38 poems by the poet, each with a unique style, structure, and topic. The lengths of the poems range from a few lines to a few pages. The poetry explores themes of love, life, and the beauty of nature. The title of the collection and one of the poems inside (Franz Marc’s Blue Horses) are inspired by the cover artwork, a painting by Franz Marc.
I really enjoyed reading this collection of poetry. The poems are all very different from each other, yet it is easy to see Oliver’s voice shine through, which I really liked. Her style and use of imagery always make for a beautiful poem. Some of my favorite poems were What We Want, Such Silence, On Not Mowing the Lawn, and I’m Not the River. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes poetry!
