'A Farewell to Arms' by Ernest Hemingway, 332 pages - Instagram @c_reads_books

A Farewell to Arms by Ernest Hemingway tells the love story of Lieutenant Henry and Catherine Barkley, backdropped by World War I. Lieutenant Henry is an American ambulance driver on the Italian front, and Catherine is an English nurse. As Henry experiences the German attack in Caporetto and more, the pair’s relationship miraculously survives through the throes of war, and can seemingly survive anything.

I honestly don’t have very strong feelings towards this book one way or another. I didn’t hate it, but I also didn’t love it. The plot and characters were interesting, though nothing spectacular, and I didn’t feel entirely invested in the story. I have definitely read better (in my opinion) war books, but I also didn’t hate this book by any means. It was an easy read, but just a so-so story. Overall, I didn’t love or hate this book, and I don’t completely recommend it, but I don’t not recommend it either.
